My Goals and Learning Plans
THIS SEMESTER'S GOAL
This semester I have 2 goals to accomplish. My first goal was to get school supports in place by 2nd midterms. This was important to help me gain better study habits and to aid me in studying at a University level. I am pleased to say I have had all my appointments with the Disability office and have all the tools in place to help me better understand my courses as well as a note taker and extra test time. I have also taken advantage of extra lab time and library resources. I am now waiting on a special tool that will help me record my lectures just in case there was something I missed or need to go over to fully understand the concepts being taught. I also want to set a goal for my 2nd semester , To Improve my grades by at least 5-10% over this term. To accomplish this goal I will have to improve on my time management skills by using an agenda to keep track of important dates. It will require numerous hours of studying and time management, especially when trying to divide time between schoolwork and my family. Being a mother, and a student, and an employee at a Nursing Home my responsibilities are divided and they are as equally important to me. My family is my inspiration for achieving this degree and entering the nursing profession. This goal is important to me to prove to myself that my disability can not stand in the way of my achievements. I will be able to measure the goal at the end of next semester by comparing the two semester marks.
GOAL FOR NURS 1020
This has been a difficult goal for me to make. I currently work in a long term care facility and have been in this environment for the last 4 years.I have learned through seminar that a good goal for me would be to understand the other side of the spectrum. I have always wondered working in a long term care facility what a Nurse's responsibilities really are? I know what mine are as a PSW but I know sometimes I have felt that I am doing all the work . So my Goal is to Understand and research what is the role of the Nurse in the long term care facility. During my 2nd semester clinical placement I will interview at least 3 nurses and obtain a job description and identify what the role of the Nurse is in a long term care setting and what daily, weekly and possibly monthly duties and responsibilities they have. I will know I have achieved my goal when I have done what is stated above and can understand and explain to my seminar group what the roles and responsibilities a Nurse has in the long term care facility.
GOAL For NURS 2010
There were three goals I needed to accomplish this semester in the Maternity Clinical practice. My first goal was to educate myself in the area of breastfeeding. To learn the proper techniques to hold the baby, proper latching techniques, as well as the benefits of breastfeeding so I could educate mothers and make them feel empowered to breastfeed their babies and take proper care of themselves. In addition, I was to keep building upon my other nursing skills such as Head to toe assessments on mom and baby and the importance of these assessments and their meanings. My second goal was to improve and enrich my knowledge on assessments by becoming more confident and competent in the areas of post-partum assessments and neonate newborn assessments. My third goal was to demonstrate a proper baby bath with the goal in mind to educate the new parents the proper techniques to bathing and caring for their infant. Throughout my clinical placement I demonstrated competency in my three goals as well as educated parents on many other subjects of interests to new parents.
Goals for NURS 2020
This placement was different from the rest although we did not set individual specific goals, we still had clinical competencies that we were required to meet. The main goal of our project is to complete and submit a Grant Proposal with research evidence to The Women’s College Hospital with the hope of obtaining a $75000.00 grant to fund the pilot project of The Community Activator Role by March 1st, 2014. We were working with partners in our community placements. We also got directly involved with the organization after our project was finished and participated in their events such as community dinners on Wednesday Nights, Thursdays for food drop in center, and usually used Fridays as research days. My partner and I completed over 176 hours. In addition to clinical practice hours, we would have a required post conference meeting every Tuesday Morning as well as various assignments to complete and weekly clinical logs to submit.
